Happy Blogoversary! (Again? Really?)

Or: My, How Time Flies When You're Busy... Aging. Which I Guess Is What Happens When Time Flies. All of a Sudden You Look Up from Your Blog and You're Like, "Eeeeeek!". And So You Soothe Yourself by Editing Pics of an Ageless Figure Skater Who Actually Seems to Be Glowing Even More in Recent Weeks, and Then You Write Really Long Dropheads About Said Skater, and the Next Thing You Know.... You're Even Older. OK, I Was Hoping This Drophead Was Going to Have a Happier Ending Than That, But Whatever. I'll Settle for More Pics. Here's One:

Johnny kindly and dutifully autographs
a million things I brought to him at HDOI
on behalf of fans around the world
who could not be there.
Because he's awesome like that.

"The Most Amazing Skater in the World." Yes. This.

Photo tweeted yesterday by Victor,
who also wrote
"At the rink watching @JohnnyGWeir--
the most amazing skater in the world--practice.
Getting chills, and not from the ice."
With bonus Galina in an awesome coat.

My favorite moment of 2010,
and of my life, really,
in the Vancouver Olympic Games.
I had given up and gained so much
to get to the point of total human oneness —
an athlete, an artist,
with my soul shining out
of every pore of my body,
with a world erupting all around me
in applause,
staring up to God —
it was the moment of my life.

NYFWhat? Nobody Brought a Camera? (Again?)

Well, at least Johnny did...
Here he's taking a runway photo
at the Libertine show Thursday, February 9
(Victor is seated next to him).
Photo tweeted by St. Louis Post-Dispatch fashion editor
Debra Bass (thank you, Debra, for knowing
what's REALLY important at these shows!).

So apparently he IS doing some Fashion Week stuff, though not quite at the pace he did last February...

And once again we are faced with an utter lack of understanding of Fashion Week priorities on the part of NYFW attendees, as in: Yes, yes, the clothes. The shoes. Whatever. DID YOU TAKE ANY PICS OF JOHNNY? (Andrew Werner? NealB? Hello? Where ARE you guys?)

Driven

My neck hurts, I'm tired
and I need a manicure,
but the music and the dream
keep me rockin'...

I can't even imagine how grueling it must be to return to the training regimen necessary for an elite athlete aiming for his third Olympics. Johnny, please know that we believe in you, we support you all the way, and we know you can do it. And we hope your neck feels better today. :)

Friday Flashback: Super Silly-ousness. On Skates.

I don't know what kind of a week you've had, but mine sucked balls at various moments that have really just kind of worn me out. Some parts were great (Skating Watch Party with bonus Johnny commentary! HoneyBadgeWeirs Beat the Bot! Fabulous picspam from Nationals plus awesome NBC promo!), but in between was so much random #epicfail, both in my own little world and in the world at large, that I've arrived at Friday in something of a shambles—sleep-deprived, seriously cranky, and in desperate need of a third addiction because the caffeine and chocolate are Just. Not. Cutting. It.

Omaha 2013: Weir Waiting...

Johnny signs autographs last weekend at Nationals.
Photo tweeted by @snoripi, who notes that
Johnny was surrounded by fans on all sides,
and was very friendly to everyone.

So last night was the first time I ever attended a "Skating Watch Party" on Twitter. Which is in fact a thing. And a fun thing, actually. A bunch of us sat down together from all different time zones and tweeted to each other as we watched the video of the senior men's free skate from Sunday, newly released by Ice Network yesterday with Johnny's commentary. Which of course was the point.
