Birthday Project Update!

So! Johnny’s birthday is tomorrow! And thanks to the incredible generosity of his fans, we now have a three-part gift for his 30th:

(1) Our very special surprise gift;

(2) The beautiful birthday book with all the messages from fans around the world;

(3) A Visa gift card! We received so many contributions that we have extra money left over. So we’ll be sending Johnny a gift card that he can use for anything he likes!

I’ve also received a zillion emails from people asking for extra time to send in birthday messages for Johnny, which is lovely.

So: the decision has been made to hold our gift until Johnny returns from Japan later this month.

He’s arriving in Tokyo on his birthday tomorrow for additional Fantasy on Ice performance dates. We know his amazing Japanese fans will take very good care of him while he’s there, and we want him to have a special birthday time with them. So our gift will be waiting for him when he returns home (in that brief space before he leaves again for China...)

This means we can extend our participation deadline a little longer!

So this has to be one of the very best ways to spend a day: reading through all the beautiful messages of love and appreciation that have come in from Johnny’s fans around the world as I help prepare the text for the birthday book.

And some fans had very kind words for the blog, which I really, really appreciate. And a number of people mentioned that they love it when I repost stuff from Johnny’s Instagram because they don’t have access to Instagram for a variety of reasons, and they hate missing out on his posts. Which was really nice to hear, because a lot of times I feel like, “Ughhhh everybody’s already seen this...” but then people are like, “But we want to see it again!” and apparently also, “No, we haven’t!”

So that led me to grab some of his newest stuff, and to search Instagram for other Johnny-related pics that people might be missing out on, and then I remembered that photos get posted to his FB fan page but tend to get lost in the shuffle there, so I grabbed some of those, one of which was the awesome macro at the top of the blog, which reminded me of how much I love those Mook Book pics, so then I had to dig around for a couple of those, and so the result is this ridiculously random grab bag of pre-birthday Johnny goodness for everyone to enjoy in case we needed any reminders of why we’re making such a fuss over him.
