Monday Morning Roundup: Hairography! BOTB Flashback! ITNY! People's Choice!

OK people, grab your caffeine, buckle up, keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times, and HANG ON! I haven't been this excited since the good ole days of petitions and NewNowNext voting! So much to talk about! So much tweeting to do! So much hair to roll around in!

Speaking of which, let's just get this out of the way right now.

All I know is that on Friday Johnny tweeted at 6:42 am: "Getting ready to go to my book cover shoot! Such fun to be had! @tmodlin @joeycamasta @EricAltSalons Get Ready!"

And then about 12 hours later, this: "Pulling up to Mari Vanna for a big fab dinner with a giant 'fro from the shoot and uber tan face. #letsscareeveryone."

And at some point on Friday, this also happened:

Johnny walks the red carpet at the First Annual
Cinema Tropical Awards last Friday, October 22.
According to the Cinema Tropical website,
the awards ceremony took place at the TimesCenter
in The New York Times Building, with awards given to
the Ten Best Latin American Films of the Decade.
Johnny was a presenter, and apparently
had we known about it, we would all have been glued,
but now we're just left with this video,
which inexplicably mostly has no audio.
Johnny silently appears from about 35:25 to 35:59.
'Fro and all. I love it.

His hair (which really at this point deserves a reality show of its own) seemed back to its old self by the next day, according to this twitpic from Eric Alt--a photo that serves as a testament not only to Eric's superb skill as Johnny's stylist, but also to the sheer audacious fearlessness of one Tara Modlin:

Eric's caption: "The newest Beauty cub @JohnnyGWeir
doing @tmodlin at Eric Alt Salons.
Call today for your appt--ask for Dorine."

OK then! Now let's flash back to Johnny's vidgasmic "Just Dance" performance last Monday on Battle of the Blades with these two exclusive backstage photos, courtesy of Agentress Extraordinaire Tara:

Johnny at Battle of the Blades
with ice dancer and BOTB competitor Shae-Lynn Bourne.

Johnny at Battle of the Blades
with MAC publicist Samantha (Sam) Diamond, left,
and MAC artist-relations pro Delphine Nicholls.
Says Agentress Tara: "They make EVERYTHING possible!
They make us beautiful. They make all this fabulousness
available to him. And they arrange everything!
We love them!"

Johnny's stunning
makeup for
his April ITNY
performance
was created
by MAC artists.
The amazing artists at MAC also were responsible for the fabulousness that was Johnny's Bad Romance makeup the last time he performed at Ice Theatre of New York back in April. Tonight is his second appearance of the year at ITNY, where reportedly he'll again be performing Heartbroken, according to the ITNY box office, as part of the 25th Anniversary Gala honoring the truly gracious and inspiring Dorothy Hamill.

I love Dorothy. I was thrilled to meet her at Ice Dreams in April, but long before that, I watched as a spellbound high school sophomore while she captured the Olympic gold medal in 1976. She also earned the gold at Worlds that year.

And here's an interesting tidbit: Dorothy won the US national championship in 1974, 1975, and 1976. Exactly thirty years later, another young skater would match that same remarkable achievement in 2004, 2005, and 2006: Johnny Weir.

Both tonight's performance--which also will feature the lovely Sarah Hughes--and the gala dinner are completely sold out, a fact that has ITNY positively thrilled. To all the lucky fans who will be there: Have a wonderfully fantabulous time! Please post lots of pics! Cuz the rest of us will be just be over here in the corner with our tepid water and our dry bread crusts, wishing and sighing and checking Facebook every five minutes, and avoiding Dancing With the Stars.

Oh, and tweeting.

Because guess what!

Alert fan Gail Turley posted some interesting links on Johnny's Facebook fan page Saturday night. Apparently last Monday while we were all busy swooning over "Just Dance," the People's Choice Awards announced  that voting for the 2011 award nominees is open from now until November 9! You can vote as many times as you like on both the People's Choice website and on Twitter, and the top five vote-getters in each category will make it onto the final ballot. (See all the 2010 nominees and winners here.)

And while they do already have lists of nominees in each category, write-ins also are welcome during this phase.

Isn't that nice? :)

Or, in other words:

OMGAGA!!! WE CAN WRITE IN OUR FAVORITE! HELLO YES OF COURSE I MEAN BE GOOD JOHNNY WEIR! LET'S GET HIM ON THE BALLOT TO WIN A PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD! IT'S ALMOST AN EMMY!!! KIND OF!

So as it began to dawn on us that heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, we could get on this like we did the NewNowNext voting, a bunch of fans decided on Twitter Saturday night that we should maybe aim our votes at one category to give Johnny a better chance to make the ballot. We were debating between "TV Obsession" and "TV Guilty Pleasure," but we all agreed that "guilty pleasure" implies watching something that isn't very good--like, you know, Guilty Pleasure nominee Jersey Shore--which certainly isn't true of BGJW. So we decided on "TV Obsession." Because we are nothing if not obsessed. In a good way, of course. Not in a crazy, I've-watched-"Just-Dance"-oh-about-8,000-times-plus-I-have-now-ordered-enough-t-shirts-to-clothe-all-of-Albania kind of way.

So: You can vote over and over and over in this category on the People's Choice Awards website! Just check the box next to "Other," type in Be Good Johnny Weir, and click "Cast Your Votes." The page will refresh with the next category. To vote again, scroll down and click "Previous Category" to return to the "TV Obsession" voting page.

And you also can do tweet-voting, as explained by People's Choice here, which essentially boils down to tweeting this:

Be Good Johnny Weir #tvobsession #peopleschoice

And repeating 100,000x.

And yes, just like with NNN, retweets also counts as votes!

Our Olympic tweeters have already answered the call, and you can watch our numbers grow here. It's going to be a little harder to track our votes, because of course other tweeters are voting for other shows under this same hashtag (those White Collar, True Blood, and Stargate Universe fans are kinda rabid ...).

But the good news is (pardon me while I adjust my reading glasses and wipe down my pocket protector): The Top Ten Tweeters using #tvobsession are all BGJW voters. And so far, in just 36 hours, they already account for nearly 40 percent of all the #tvobsession votes being cast on Twitter. So I think we might actually have a shot at MAKING THIS HAPPEN ...

Because who could forget this deeply pouty poignant "I-want-an-Emmy!" BGJW outtake:

Dear crabby Johnny: BB, I know it's not an Emmy, but since you are the "people's skater," a nomination for a People's Choice Award seems kinda perfect. For now. --with love from all your t-shirt-clad fans. ♥

Now I know why Johnny sported this `fro which confirmed that he has his heart in the right place and that he has enough humor to not take himself too serious. Way to go, Johnny.

Thanks for that roundup. A lot to do coming week...

Binky, I'm trying to find words for the awesomeness that has decended upon us this weekend. Fantoobulous. Sequintastic. Glitterific. Frozilla.

THANK YOU to -deep breath- MAC, Tara Agentress Modlin, People's Choice, Dorine, Mama-san, and Executive Producetress for giving us something to do. The thought of Johnny coming on stage at the People's Choice awards to accept is... spectacufergalicious.

Favorite TV Obsession is PERFECT. And it keeps us all out of the line of fire of Kathy Griffin (who I love) whose "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" is in the Favorite TV Guilty Pleasure category. :)

Soooo... today I will vote repeatedly for Johnny to win a People's Choice award in between my struggle with "OMG what will I wear for ITNY (MyFirstTime) tonight??"

As ever, thank you for the blog. It is great medicine!

Big hugs!

I got off early last night (about 1030 pm AZ time) so I didn't see this until now! Another great Blog! I've got to get tweeting, so far I've only cast a couple hundred votes and some people are doing way better than that, lol! Wish I could be at ITNY tonight, but guess I'll have to wait to hear from the others!

Thank you for the exclusive pics, thanks for the shout out on the People's Choice, and thank you SO MUCH for keeping up on everything for us! You are the best!
