Survey Says: Canadian Potpourri! (Not to Be Confused With Poutine ...)

Johnny on the set of CBC News Now on Sunday,
ready for his live interview. Very special thanks
to Agentress Extraordinaire Tara Modlin for the photo!

OK, whilst (a word I love that they say in Canada) our technicians continue to work feverishly to figure out how to get the video of Johnny's "Just Dance" performance snippet tonight to somehow be available for everyone around the world (I'm guessing some wonderful YouTube user will save the day in the end), we have a brief mishmash of Sunday-in-Toronto stuff to savor!

(Seriously. What is the deal with that? I can't believe we don't have some kind of automatic, ironclad, presidentially mandated television reciprocity agreement with Canada, of all places. A blog commenter was kind enough to provide this link yesterday to the Battle of the Blades website, where full episodes are available. Yay! But when I click on any of them, I just get this polite Canadian response written by someone who appears to be deeply in the throes of a severe allergy to commas:

"We're sorry the video you've selected cannot be streamed outside of Canada. If you are inside Canada and believe you have received this message in error please contact us. http://www.cbc.ca/contact/."

Sigh.

Also, for some reason I find the phrasing, "If you are inside Canada ..." kind of disturbing and evocative of being in the dark nether regions of someone with whom I am not particularly close so the whole encounter is kind of awkward.

And in researching this issue further in a desperate bid to answer the question WHY OH WHY, all I could find was this geekfest of a Q-and-A on the CBC site:

Q. Why do online videos say "content not available"… ?

A. The CBC does not hold international internet distribution rights for television sports and drama shows. We can distribute most of our TV news and current affairs programs online. But hockey, soccer, skating or dramas such as The Border, Coronation Street and The Rick Mercer Report are geo-fenced or blocked (through your IP address) for everyone outside Canada.

Clear as poutine, eh?)

Fortunately, sharp-eyed fans have already spied some videos for us to enjoy. First, posted by Margaret Lei on Johnny's FB page, we have the interview mentioned above from yesterday's CBC News Now:

And then, uploaded by YouTube user aplysia06 and spotted by Jessica Lane, this brief moment from the actual show last night:

In addition, we also are fortunate to have two additional photos kindly shared by Agentress Tara:

Johnny prepares for practice on Sunday for tonight's
"Just Dance" performance. Later, he tweeted:
"#justdance is finished. Canada exclusive!
The lovely Sandra Bezic assisted
in the birth of this snippet! Such a class act. ..."

Hair and makeup done, Johnny's ready for showtime
on last night's Battle of the Blades!

And finally, we have this tweet, which sparked yet another laugh-tastic Twitter-fest:

Oh my. Suggestions? Fans tweeted so many fabulous ideas that the whole concept simply begs for a survey to select a fan favorite! (Knowing, of course, that Johnny will do whatever he's in the mood for at the time. See, this is where a Johnny paper-doll series with endless outfit options would really come in handy: It's Halloween Johnny! It's Christmas Johnny! It's Hombre Johnny! It's What-the-Hell-It's-Wednesday-and-We're-Feeling-Very-French Johnny! ...)

Anyway: Please help dress Johnny for Halloween with this survey! Because it's the most fun we can have on a Monday! Short of it not being Monday at all! Survey ends Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. CDT, and results will be announced here soon. :)
