Here, Have Some Weibopalooza While We Wait...

UPDATE 2: The US Supreme Court ruled  today, Wednesday, June 26, that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional! This means that the federal government must now recognize the marriages of those LGBT couples whose states recognize their marriages. In addition, the ruling now grants thousands of federal benefits to those couples that were previously denied them.

The ruling also gives hope to married LGBT bi-national couples, who previously could not obtain green cards for foreign partners because the federal government did not recognize them as “spouses.”

The Court also ruled on California’s Proposition 8, which sought to overturn  marriage equality in that state. The Court dismissed the case, deciding that the proponents of Prop. 8 (those who wanted to ban marriage equality) had no standing to bring the case. This leaves the lower court ruling in place, which clears the way for LGBT couples to once again marry legally in California.

More on these historic decisions here and here.

Love is love.

because it’s pleasingly huge.

So it’s a little challenging to try to stay current with what’s happening in Taipei, since it’s currently Friday morning here but it’s already Friday night there, so no matter what I do I’m basically lagging behind because the future is happening now and I’m still sipping the first coffee of the day (or the last coffee of the night, because my understanding of “day” and “night” is fairly fluid anyway, by which I mean constantly fueled by coffee-drenched fluids 24/7), but anyway here’s all the latest stuff I could find from what I could best identify as adorably meaningless constructs known as “Thursday” and “Friday,” although I’m pretty sure more Friday stuff is coming any second now but we’ll just save that for some other round of coffee...

Kayso Johnny arrived safely in Taipei about 6 pm-ish New York time on Tuesday which for him was about 6 am-ish Wednesday morning in Taipei (confused about the time difference? Check the handy clock in the blog sidebar to see when Johnny is! It may not help, but the little ticking numbers are oddly mesmerizing...), where he was greeted by fans bearing flowers and gifts, as always, despite the bleary-eyed early hour, which is partly to blame for the fact that we only have a few photos of his arrival since because zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... But here they are:
