Random Wednesday Roundup

Johnny at the Ice House last Thursday,
greeting fans and signing autographs.
Photo tweeted by @D_Galano21:
"Just met professional figure skater Johnny Weir.
Sweeeeeet."

OK! Here's a quick roundup of a bunch of stuff you've probably already seen that happened while I was busy having a life—

—such as it is, being mostly made up of things like drowning in deadlines at the same time that my townhouse-complex management suddenly decides to embark on a quick trip down the rabbit hole to paint all our front doors red (because "Corporations are people, my friend! And this one is the Queen of Hearts!") which involves the experienced paint crew coming by at the crack of dawn and propping my front door open for hours and hours and hours while I keep my cats trapped upstairs in my bedroom/office, a room in which they are normally desperate to spend all day lounging, but now that they HAVE to be there, from which they are desperate to escape by any means necessary including ceaseless attempts to squeeze past my monitor (excuse me, I'm trying to work here...) to paw open the window screen and plunge to their deaths on the propped-open front door, and concluding with the exciting announcement from the management that the experienced paint crew will be repeating this whimsical exercise in its entirety again today because they forgot to prime the door first, so instead of a nice, rich, Elizabeth Arden red, my front door currently looks like it has a bad case of hives, which means I'll be rounding up the cats again at 6 a.m. but this time they're going to be far more suspicious than they were yesterday, which should create an extra-challenging scenario for all involved that hopefully doesn't end with me cackling madly to myself whilst painting the cats a nice, rich, Elizabeth Arden red....

Anyway. Here's some stuff about Johnny.

In the realm of feng shui, a red door is di rigueur for fabulous good luck. Hope that enough good fortune visits you to make up for all this cat and deadline grief.

One of the very few superstitions that I indulge in is to buy a decorative red object whenever I was job hunting. Maybe it helped, as I kept getting job acceptances.

Here's wishing Victor well and that all his genius clocks in and is in fighting form today and tomorrow.

In some BGJW episodes, I was left with the feeling that Johnny was very often at loose ends...not enough practice time, a program not totally compatible, getting his costume ready and accepted, warped skates, the requisite "amount of difficulty" in the program [even though it makes skaters look discombobulated and hyperkinetic], or his choreography team in disagreement. Here's hoping that this time around all these elements are on the same page and that Johnny can just concentrate on being in the moment and take us on another wonderful journey.

I think Tyoma's interpretation of the rule is "the puppy waits until both papas are asleep and does whatever he likes."

Johnny's tweet yesterday made the idea of competition real in a way nothing else has. So excited for him!
