OK! So much to catch up on this week! Here's all the exciting stuff that's been happening in Johnny world whilst I was busy doing boring things interrupted by frequent bouts of cleaning up cat vomit.... #whatismylife
BREAKING NEWS!!
Holiday Dreams On Ice 2012 is happening!!
In Brooklyn, NY, on December 23
at Abe Stark Arena!
Go here for info!! OMG!!
(1) Johnny's new column for the Falls Church News-Press is up! This week's entry offers an enjoyable glimpse into serious fandom—not ours, but rather that of the all-things-Apple aficionado to whom Johnny is married. The parallels are wonderful, with a thoughtful point at the end. Love it.
And a very beloved nerd as well.
(2) Saturday Night Live announced yesterday that it was suddenly "SNL Host Suggestion Day"! Which plunged fans into a fury of tweeting and Facebooking to alert SNL that we'd love to see Johnny host an upcoming episode, since he'd love to do it:
While technically the nominating period is over, please feel free to send a straggler tweet or two to @nbcsnl today if you missed doing so yesterday (be sure to include the hashtag #SNLHost). You also can still leave a comment on their Facebook post or on their website.
To make sure you don't miss out on the next nominating day, please follow @JohnnyWeirToHostSNL on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr to receive alerts as soon as SNL announces they're taking nominations again!
(3) In the meantime: At last, an election that doesn't make you want to hit yourself repeatedly in the head with a shovel. Johnny is one of the celebrity nominees in the first ever Fright Night Awards, a lighthearted virtual awards show held exclusively online by the organizers of the "Cancer Bites" campaign, an effort to raise awareness and funding to fight blood cancers. Here's Johnny's category:
Not suuuuuure I agree with this assessment, but it's an honor for him to be included with some other big names. And he's obviously the most frighteningly beautiful nominee, so please: vote vote vote!!
You have to register initially with an email address, and then you can vote as often as you like by simply logging in, voting, scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking "Let Me Out!" to log out, and then logging in again ad infinitum (it's not cheating—they encourage everyone to follow these steps and vote repeatedly!).
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 30. So please go vote for Johnny!
(4) In the midst of drowning in deadlines all week, I surfaced for a brief moment to belatedly discover a really nice shoutout to the blog from the lovely Susan Chun, editor of LifeSkate (one of my fav skating sites because I think she fangurls Johnny as much as the rest of us do):
Thank you so much, Susan! You totally made my week, which up until that point was a dizzying array of projects that tasted like they had paper way, way too close to them...
(5) From Our Objets Trouvé Dept.:
Part 1: Photo tweeted Wednesday by Johnny:
"Found objects. It was a long day..."
Part 2: Photo tweeted Thursday by Misha Ge:
"Copy version of @JohnnyGWeir "Found Object"
with couple differences ^_^"
Part 3: My two fav responses:
Please let this happen at some point during the season.
(6) And from Our Um, Yes, Cup of Russia Is Only Two Weeks Away. Why Do You Ask? Dept.:
From dear @ayukovon. ♥
(7) And finally, of course, we have picspam! More stunning photos from the amazing Elle-velle, of Johnny after his Poker Face short program at Finlandia. Absolutely gorgeous. You can see all of Elle-velle's Finlandia galleries here.
As always, please click any photo twice for larger view.
Bonus pics!! Also from Elle-velle:
Johnny at his Finlandia free skate practice.
Love the beautiful detail on this costume.
And love the beautiful wearer also.
Johnny's also blogging regularly
about his comeback journey for ESPN!!
His first entry, "A Fresh Start"—personal, honest,
very Johnny—was posted last Friday and is the source
of the quote on the Spirit Day photo above.
Looking forward to reading more from him
as the season progresses!
Please vote for Johnny!!
Please alert absolutely everyone you've ever met
to "like" and follow the new
Because he should be on all the things.
With or without ice.
But definitely with Viacheslav.

Great blog as always, MM! I'm sorry I haven't been commenting lately. I don't currently have Internet access at home (or cable either). Great pictures, and I love the tweets from Viktor. I read that one yesterday, I think it was, where he said he and Tema were cowering in a corner. I can just imagine our Johnny in a cleaning and organizing frenzy and anyone caught in the crossfire just trying to stay out of Hurricane Johnny's way! LOL!
Looks like some serious blacks and blues from practice might be hidden under the red Russia jacket and tights. I remember how Johnny's toes looked before the Olympics.
