And now brief video of Johnny!

UPDATE!!
From the New York Times:

Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski, whose critical, entertaining and fashion-conscious figure skating analysis on NBCSN drew praise during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, have earned an expected promotion to the lead team for the sport on the NBC Sports Group.

NBC will announce the change Wednesday.

“Tara and Johnny are a very authentic team,” Jim Bell, the executive producer of NBC Olympics, said in a telephone interview. “They’re fun and fresh. They’re not afraid to offer strong opinions and come back and take a selfie on Instagram.”

He added: “You look for their kind of chemistry. You can’t make it up.”

Lipinski and Weir will be the prime-time voices of figure skating for NBC during the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, but will start in their new roles during the NBC broadcast of Skate America on Sunday.

Our Story Thus Far.

Which is sadly lacking in actualfax story. All I’ve got is, “Once upon a time, Johnny went to Russia for Snow King rehearsals and stayed there forever, possibly longer.”

So we’ll make do with pics, many of which I’m sure everyone’s seen already but I had a long week and a cough that’s cheerily decided to move in and make itself at home in the cozy quarters of my bronchioli and I just want to look at these all together in one place because he looks happy in a lot of them and that’s pretty much all the reason I need besides the fact that he’s in them.

First, please enjoy this brief series by wonderful Arthur Lookyanov, Johnny’s driver in Moscow, from Arthur’s album, Johnny Weir Red Square 2014. I love Arthur’s titles and descriptions for his pics, which I’ve included here because they’re awesome.

Flashback Friday Bonus:
An Evening With Champions.

The following photo series comprises literally just the first 42 seconds that Johnny was on the ice for his second performance of “Human” in Boston. We have more than 160 shots of this program, and I really meant to include more in this post, but then as I started going through them, I realized that these need to be lingered over and savored in small, stunning batches.

And part of the reason this particular batch is small is because the pose in the last photo below is so haunting that I just stopped there and couldn’t really go any farther in editing these.

So we begin with only 25, including the lead photo above, processed in a portrait style. In this series Johnny acknowledges the cheers of the crowd as his name is announced, takes his place at center ice, and then skates just the first few movements of this deeply poignant program.

During Friday’s performance, Johnny chose the same costume that he had worn in Sun Valley for the US debut of “Human.” So when he glided onto the ice Saturday evening, the fur sleeves were unexpected and even startling. I interpreted them as both protective and defiant, a personal statement about who he is as a human, and, as always, uniquely, beautifully Johnny.

Please click any photo twice for the full-size image. Most of these are huge and exquisitely detailed. They may take a moment to load, but, as always, are well worth the wait.
