In our continuing coverage of the two nights of fabulousness that was Art2Skate, today we bring you Johnny’s Creep performance from the Friday show.
This mesmerizing and poignant program has become a true fan favorite since he first introduced it in Japan last year. Interestingly, during the Art2Skate Q&A, Johnny mentioned that Creep was partially born out of... the skirt. He said he saw it in a thrift-store window for $5 and just had to have it, and then was obsessed with creating something on the ice that would be a perfect reason for him to wear it. And so we have the now iconic Creep. Recently he’s been pairing it it with a white turtleneck rather than the black tank top of last year, but in either case, the skirt is the perfect swirling, flowing, graceful accompaniment to his passionate interpretation of the song.
Whatever kind of Monday you’re having, I hope it has just been vastly improved by all the beauty that follows...
Note: This is a spectacular set of photos. And as in our previous Art2Skate post, nearly all are gratifyingly huuuuuuge, so please click on any photo to see it in all its glorious full-size detail.
Acknowledging the thunderous applause and cheers of his home rink crowd.
