That's a Wrap! Which I Don't Even Know What That Means

So apparently there was a wrap party for BGJW Season 2 last night somewhere. And some people came. And some photos happened.

And that is pretty much the extent of my knowledge on that.

I was busy plowing through this project in which every time I went to make a final PDF of said project, my software chuckled quietly to itself and then did bizarre things to different pages--backgrounds missing randomly, photos unexpectedly skewed, text wrapped around graphics not at all the way it was in the original document but rather more akin to something you'd see on RuPaul's Drag Race--all of which was a bit disturbing and profoundly annoying, but fortunately Tara started tweeting a bunch of photos right as I was starting to headdesk repeatedly, so I got distracted by those which were equally random but in a more fun way, like something you'd hope to see on RuPaul's Drag Race (BTW I'm #NotClearOn the positioning of BGJW Season 2 after RuPaul's show. I had sort of taken that to mean a new RuPaul episode would be the lead-in to a new BGJW episode if and when we ever actually get to Season 2 although I'm thinking a wrap party is a hopeful sign cuz OK they've wrapped it really really wrapped it cuz he's mentioned before that they've, you know, WRAPPED THIS THING, so OK can we unwrap it now and WATCH IT pretty please with mammoth flu shots on top or sideways or whatever, but then in Irina's blog yesterday she wrote that "the new season will start after the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race." Which sounds like something different than RuPaul being a lead-in. So IDK).

But anyway.

They had a party! Yay!

While the event will not be televised, CNN Dialogues tweeted yesterday that we can tweet questions now for Johnny relevant to the topic, and they will choose some to be used during tonight's event! Preach It, BB!

And here we have one of the many compelling reasons
to vote for Johnny as the USFSA Readers' Choice 
Figure Skater of the Year ...


Hey! Wake up! Johnny comes home today! And we have tons of stuff to do! So let's get on with it! And take some cues from the Japanese fans, who loved him so well this last week! Let's show him that he is equally loved and supported here at home:

(1) Today is the last day to vote for Johnny as USFSA's Readers' Choice Figure Skater of the Year! (see above for motivation. Or just watch his brilliant performance-of-a-lifetime Olympic programs while averting your eyes from the scores. Or his Oly press conference with the notable absence of any federation support. Whatever makes you want to #cuttaUSFSAbitch the most ...). One vote per e-mail address. It's called gmail. You know what to do.

(2) BGJW is one of the ten finalists for "Best Candid Reality Show" in the Tubey Awards! Johnny is on the very first page of nominees. We only have until Monday on this one, so please go there now and vote! Helpful tip: If you delete your cookies--which is technically not the same as deleting an entire bag of cookies while watching additional Pop Star on Ice footage courtesy of a special Twitter friend and some international fans, all of whom are up for Binky Awards as best video uploaders EVER--you can vote again! And here's to the power of Weirsus: Within one hour of his tweet, @JWArtProject had gone from 7 followers to 1,029. As of this writing, they're now at 1,762. :)

Words to Live By--in Special .Gif Form!--and Some Stuff to Do

OK, so I figured out what's wrong besides the fact that my new computer and I are still not speaking and Johnny is in Japan and I'm not. Actually I'm really happy for him to be in Japan, because he's happy to be there, and the Japanese treat him like royalty. Which is as it should be.

But in the meantime we are languishing here stateside, and judging by my e-mail, I am apparently not alone in being bored and out of sorts and just plain bitchy, and also in spending inordinate amounts of time picking with great disdain through everything I own which was apparently purchased by someone else who must have liked it at the time but now feels that it's all wrong. Which I guess is me.

And so I seek distraction from myself by flopping on the couch with the remote, but no matter how many channels I flip through nor how fast and irritatedly I flip, THERE IS NOTHING ON TV.

And then I realize.

This is the dreaded Be Good Johnny Weir withdrawal syndrome.

And I am in the full throes of it.

We knew it was coming. We've analyzed his every facial expression in every scene of every episode; watched the finale twenty times plus every scrap of webisode and outtake video available on Sundance and toudou; and hung on every word of every bit of dialogue all year, memorizing it line for line and embedding catch phrases in our vocabulary that now make us wonder how it was we expressed ourselves coherently before. Even my kids say, when I suggest some unpopular activity, "Wow, Mom. That totally tastes like it has reams of paper close to it." Another versatile favorite: "Don't you know that? Are you stupid?" Plus the new gentle fashion guideline: "When you wear pants and they mark you like this, that means they're a little ... snug."

But now we're in that godforsaken endless barren desert that stretches across some unknowable span of time from the end of Season 1 to the beginning of Season 2--a beginning whose date remains elusive and thus tortures us almost as much as the endless thrumming of will-he-or-won't-he in the backs of our minds.

The only thing that might help is to be able to drown ourselves in the new Mook Book featuring the famed MAC photo shoot of myth and legend--but the machinations required to purchase said book from Japan (cripes! Do the Japanese fans realize how incredibly blessed by Weirsus they are? Actually, I think they do--so no wonder he loves to go there) are akin to ancient forbidden Opus Dei rituals that require an ever-tighter cilice, a sacrificial lamb, and a personal credit reference from a foreign bank--or preferably a foreign head of state--to complete. (Although Facebook fan Gail Turley has kindly gathered some instructions on how to actually order the book and made them available on her blog.)

All of which helped me to arrive at this point:


So after I joined Johnny in repeating this phrase a few times, which made me ridiculously giddy, I went into deep consultation with members of the Haus of Weir, and together we created a happy little fantasy to get us out of our BGJW-less doldrums, which shall be shared here soon ...

In the meantime, here's something with which we can amuse ourselves, a special request that came from a little Twitter bird (just before it had to go help its little birdy friends heave that #failwhale around some more):

Let's show Yana that we can follow the Japanese fans' lead and shower her with good wishes while we try valiantly not to sink back into petulant self-pity because there's no new BGJW and Johnny is in Japan and we're not ...

Here's Just a Little Teaser Clip ...


... with which we can amuse ourselves by pressing "play" repeatedly until the BGJW finale airs tonight. Which currently is hours from now. Sigh. Yes, I already watched it via On Demand, but it's just not right until all the kittens have seen it and we can all purr together over every fascinating facet of Johnny and mew plaintively over Vancouver and try not to claw out the eyes of the Olympic judges and eat them for our little kitten supper.

Oh. Never mind. Obviously they're already blind. Not to mention morally challenged.

Pros: It repeats over and over by itself--no need to click the "play" button. So now you can have both hands free to do stuff like wipe away that little bit of drool running down your chin. Or whatever else you might need two hands to do.

Cons: No audio of Johnny's sweet-silky-sexy voice intoning, "Hello, boys ... and welcome to Vancouver ... " again and again and again.

Well. That will never do. So here's the audio clip below. Press "play" once, and it will loop endlessly until you tell Johnny to stop (as if anyone would do that).

The End of #realityWEIR ... What's NewNowNext for Us?


Yeah, I think you're going to have the last laugh
on those idiot judges, BB...


Well. I guess I'm about to tweet my last #realityWEIR, since the NewNow Next awards voting ends today (though I'm not sure what time, so just in case, I'm going to keep #realityWEIRing thoughout the day...)

But this feels a little  ... bitterstweet.

The party's pretty much over, the balloons are droopy and misshapen, there are only unappealing, squashed-up bits of cake left that I'm probably just going to throw away, and all that glitter is now only an irritant on the carpet for the cats to eat and then later throw up.

And so I'm kinda bleah. And also a little waaaah.

#realityWEIR has been my constant companion on Twitter since LogoTV first announced that Johnny was a nominee for NewNowNext's "Most Addictive Reality Star" back on April 14, and that I could vote for him simply by tweeting #realityWEIR. It has faithfully attached itself to tweets about my new blog entries, my fascination with late-breaking news from every corner of the world, my complete and utter contempt for Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, my lols at and appreciation of various Twitter friends, and of course dozens of @replies to @JohnnyGWeir's tweets, whether it's a twitpic of his latest mullet color or musings on The Dingles. No matter what 140-character message I just had to say, #realityWEIR was right alongside, ending every tweet for me with #hotBETTYWHITE and flair.

And power.

Because wow. You get a few people on Twitter to put #realityWEIR in their tweets, and then to retweet each other's #realityWEIR tweets, and then to retweet each other's followers' #realityWEIR tweets, and a scant seven weeks later you've got a tidy little pile of about 100,000 tweet votes--let alone the number of votes on the NewNowNext site itself.

So #realityWEIR, the little tweeting engine that could, may very well have helped us achieve something really, really cool for our beloved JWe. Just our little way of collectively thumbing our noses at those Olympic judges and declaring: "Oh, btw: YOU SUCK."

The awards show will be taped this coming Tuesday, June 8, at The Edison in downtown Los Angeles, and Johnny will be one of the award presenters. But we'll have to wait until the show's broadcast on Thursday, June 17, to learn who the winners are. The pre-show will start at 9:30 p.m. EDT, with the award presentations set to begin at 10 p.m. EDT. If, like me, you don't have satellite and your cable company's broadcast philosophy is still rooted in the time of the Salem witch hunts and overseen by a prim triumvirate of executives named "Prudence," "Fear," and "Chastity," who have chosen to protect you against your will from the scandalous fare that is the LogoTV channel, you can watch the awards program on the web at LogoTV.com.

But even though #realityWEIR will soon be no more, we still have several other important issues that require our votes! So if, like me, you're now not only addicted to Johnny but also to the act of voting for him or something related even tangentially to him, you can:

*Vote for Johnny to win USFSA's Readers' Choice Figure Skater of the Year. Because he most definitely should.

*Vote to encourage Pepsi to fund sorely needed physical activity programs for kids through the n'Play Foundation. Johnny is one of the board members of n'Play.

*Vote for Beauty Bear Eric Alt's salons to win "Favorite Salon" in New Jersey Life/Health and Beauty magazine's Beauty A-List awards.

And of course, our current number-one priority is to pimp out our AIDS/LifeCycle "Ride for Life" fan project! We were so excited to see that the story has already been picked up by The Advocate and by Towle Road! As you know, the ride starts this Sunday, and our goal is to have $5,000 in donations by then. So please pimp this baby out, people!

Also: Thanks to everyone who voted in our "Name Rider X" survey! Johnny's Bikertress will now be known (at least to us, but maybe not in any official press releases...) by the fans' top vote-getter: Atomic Kitten!

And finally: Even though #realityWEIRing will soon be a thing of the past, we have much to look forward to in the coming weeks and months:

June 19: Johnny will perform at Skate for Hope in Columbus, Ohio, and tickets are still available! And the lovely director of that event, Carolyn Bongirno, was kind enough to donate to Ride for Life in Johnny's honor!

June 27: It's the hour-long season finale (I refuse to say "series finale") of Be Good Johnny Weir on Sundance!

July 10 - 11: Johnny is performing at "Fantasy on Ice" in Niigata, Japan.

July 24: Johnny will be the headliner at the Sun Valley Summer Ice Show in Sun Valley, Idaho

July 31: Johnny returns to Lake Placid, New York, to perform in the Citizens Bank Summer Ice Series 

September: Johnny will be skating at another event in Japan, according to his tweet.
