More Ice Dreams: Want Your Bad Romance (No, Harold, Not You)

Johnny at the end of his Bad Romance performance,
Ice Dreams 2011.

So currently my life is sucking on multiple levels, which is unfortunate. Fortunately I have more leftover Ice Dreams photos with which to distract myself, which do not suck. And while I go try to whittle away at the suckage that surroundeth me (IDK why I lapse into KJV--King James version--English when discussing stuff that is really getting on my last nerve, but while I'm busy shedding shit that doesn't work for me anymore, I think I'll include my years of unquestioningly obedient Lutheranism so that I might then be empowered to draw deeply insightful conclusions about things I do without thinking. Also while I'm thinking about KJV and NIV and RSV and all the rest, I think someone should put together more relevant biblical translations for the Internet age, like the IDK Bible ("IDK why 'Christians' cheerfully ignore all the stuff in Leviticus about shellfish and not wearing clothes woven of different materials but still cling desperately to the two tiny verses there that actually aren't talking about gay love as we know it anyway but instead are cautioning against cultish practices of that historical time"), the BTW Bible ("BTW either obey everything in Leviticus--which would kinda be Jewish-ish, not Christian--or nothing. Also BTW kudos to gay CNN anchor Don Lemon for coming out."), the FYI Bible ("FYI: No, gay pride does NOT mean that the world is coming to an end. Also FYI: The Bible says that NO ONE knows when the world may or may not be ending, so by trumpeting that it's this Saturday or possibly October, Harold Camping has just guaranteed that it isn't either one."), the DNW Bible ("DNW your claim that your personal prejudices and phobias have any kind of actual spiritual basis other than being rooted in your own spirit full of fear and condemnation"), and my personal favorite, the WTF/STFU Bible ("WTF is all this crap you people claim to be doing in My name? STFU already."), please enjoy the picspam.

Interesting historical note (well, interesting to me cuz it's about my history. Please feel free to skip and take a few minutes to write your own historical note: "Hey! I love marshmallow-encrusted Fruity Pebbles too!"): Last year I saw one of Johnny's early Bad Romance exhibitions at Ice Dreams 2010. I've heard whispers that he might retire this program, so his performance of it at Ice Dreams 2011 may be the last one we'll see.

It has been fascinating to watch Johnny refine this over the past year. I absolutely LOVE his attitude throughout this particular performance. If Ice Dreams 2011 was indeed his final Bad Romance--it was an amazing way to end. :)

(The program, not the world. Although actually it works for me that way too.)

(Oh, and the BRB Bible: "BRB Imma send the Bad Romance YouTube link to Harold Camping RN"), and the LOL Bible: "LOL Harold Camping's head just exploded ... ")

Warning: NYFW May Severely Impair Your Ability to Decide Stuff (and Also to Speak Coherently)

Programming note:
HEY I THINK THERE'S GOING TO BE A LIVESTREAM

IN WHICH JOHNNY IS WALKING!!!
(Or at least that's what Indashio's blog says.

BUT I DUNNO IF THIS IS THE RIGHT LINK!
SO SOMEBODY TWEET ME OR SOMETHING!!

UPDATE: LIVESTREAM ALSO AVAILABLE

OK, I lied. My fav pic of Johnny from NYFW thus far is actually this one:

Or maybe this one:

No, wait. This one:

No, no. Definitely this one:

Hmmmm. No, I think it's this one:

No, no, I've got it! This one. For sure:

Wait, wait! It's this one:

BRB dying ...

.............

flgdjklfhlh;s asdasf qipytqn;mhso ptokh

.............

OK. No. Really. This one. Absolutely. This one:

Because as outrageously fun as all of Johnny + Fashion Week has been so far, I noticed that Johnny--fashionICEta that he is--has been quietly but steadily reminding the world that he is, first and foremost, a figure skater. By which of course I mean an amazing, breathtaking, soul-stirring, life-changing artist on ice (or we could go with "sex on ice," as the Vogue Vibes blogger found herself sighing, in total agreement with me). He's recently tweeted about editing his short-program "Tragic Fairytale" music (to which Tara tweeted back, "OMG I am crying!!! its soooo good!!"); about his (well-justified) pride in his Ave Maria performance from Kaleidoscope; and, just last night, about his Bad Romance performance, also from Kaleidoscope (thank you, Wendy Stevens, for your arsenal of web-vid skills, without which we would all be hopelessly bereft).

So while I've been blissfully rolling around in all these NYFW pics and hoping that he's having a really really wonderful time taking over the fashion world on his way to Totally Unstoppable Global Domination (With Sparkles), I'm thrilled to accept his invitation to watch Bad Romance again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

In fact, I think it's my fav performance of Johnny's!

No, wait ...

OK, I know it's a few months away,
but you can get tickets NOW to see Johnny
in Skate for Hope on Saturday, June 18, in Columbus, OH!
(Same weekend as the Annually Awesome

Spent: Afterward, a Cigarette and Some Cognac...

Johnny Weir strikes a post-finale pose
at the Ice Theatre of New York, April 29, 2010
photo (c) 2010 Wendy Gross Birnbaum
posted to Johnny Weir's Facebook fan page

There really are no words.

The anticipation. The butterflies. The ever-increasing excitement all day long--really, for weeks now.

The moment draws closer and closer. You've waited so long for this.

And then: It's him. It's really him. And it's all so much more than you could ever even have imagined.

For all the lucky ones who were blessed to see Johnny Weir's two amazing performances at the Ice Theatre of New York last night--his new "Heartbroken" piece and the fan-favorite "Bad Romance"--watching him skate live was breathtaking, spectacular, unbelievably moving, and absolutely unforgettable.

(And then! To meet him afterwards! OMG I DIE, as Facebook fan Ashley Taylor would say.)

For those of us living vicariously from afar, it was incredible happiness for our fellow privileged Weirlandians, tinged with deep, gnawing wistfulness that we were the ones left at home, dateless on prom night, waiting for the pics and videos to hit the Facebook page.

And so, as those first comments and photos began coming in, and then more and more (and more today, I'm sure), all of Weirlandia found itself awash in the Chelsea Piers event, everyone together soaking in the souvenirs, marinating in the footage, bathing in the photos, luxuriating in each story of each moment (hugs! kisses! cupcakes! and yes, he smells WONDERFUL!), all of it reaching a crescendo--

--a climax, if you will--

--because there is no denying the incredibly powerful and beautiful gender-transcendant sexual vibe that underlies everything Johnny Weir--

and then--

It was over.

Sighhhhhhhhh.

[...and thousands of tiny smoke rings wafted over the pink trees of Weirlandia, accompanied by the gently musical clinking of many cognac glasses...]

Please keep voting for Johnny
as "Most Addictive Reality Star"
in the NewNowNext Awards! Vote here
(he's the last one listed in the fifth category--scroll down!)
or on Twitter by constantly tweeting #realityWEIR.
Voting ends June 4, which gives us plenty of time
to get Johnny oh, say, ONE MILLION votes!

Thank you to Facebook fan Nicole Davis,
whose words inspired this post. :)
