Random Tuesday Roundup, Or: Is It Summer Yet?

UPDATE: Yay!! More Johnny
commentary—right before Sochi!

Kayso I realize that today is not technically one of those traditional “let’s post old photos days” (#WaybackWednesday #ThrowbackThursday #FlashbackFriday etc.), but here, as always, our subject is Johnny, who is basically the fabulous poster child for not technically following any rules anywhere ever if it can possibly be deliciously avoided, so we’ve thrown proper hashtaggery to the winds (which are howling through Chiberia right now enough to envelop the city in a nicely frigid -10 F windchill, so all the hashtags we flung immediately turned to ice and shattered artistically when they hit the ground. If only I had aimed for the 5-foot snowdrift by my garage...) and are just going to indulge ourselves in lots of sun-drenched Johnny from last summer as an antidote to our seemingly endless stay here in Jotunheim...

But first: The Refinery29 piece referenced here last week  just came out, and it turns out to be mostly a glorious video from which I quickly grabbed two screencaps:

Having been styled for the office by Refinery29’s
Kelly Bourdet and Connie Wang, Johnny explains
figure skating costumes to them...

...and assesses how they look when they return:
Kelly clad in his Born This Way costume, and
Connie in one of Tara’s skating dresses.

Please go watch the video now!
Johnny’s “day at the office” is priceless.

UPDATE! Photo via Refinery29.

And also: Yes, we have Johnny’s Euros commentary! (Men’s here; women’s here!) And no, we do NOT have the Skating Spectacular. Because ARGHHHHHHHHH. Although we are desperately looking for a way to overcome our technical difficulties and bring it to you, but so far no luck.

Meanwhile, 4CC is happening this week, though NBC is not broadcasting the event until Saturday, February 1, at 4:30 pm EST (check local listings so you don't miss out on Johnny's commentary!). And we’re just 16 days away from actual Olympic figure-skating coverage on NBC, which begins with the team event on February 6

Johnny’s getting ready (though apparently far right-wing America may not be ready for Johnny. Their loss.):

Via Johnny: “It just got real!
#Sochi2014 @nbcolympics”

Via Johnny: “Just finished my preliminary,
Sochi, on-air fashion pull. Leaving in 10 days!”
OMG. How amazing is he going to look on camera! :D
I’ll be gathering every child I know to watch with me!

OK! On to the picspam, a continuation of our series of rehearsal photos from Sun Valley (more here and here). During his second appearance in Sun Valley last summer, Johnny was fighting a terrible cold, high altitude, and air still heavy with smoke from recent forest fires, so he looks very serious and intense in these. He had plenty of smiles for fans after his practice, but while he was on the ice, he was all business and blowing his nose.

As always, please click any photo twice for full-size view. Some of these are super hi-res, and may cause slower loading times for the blog. But they’re definitely worth the wait. I’ll just be huddled here next to them all day, dreaming of ice the only way I like it: either tinkling in my glass, or under the hot sun, with beautiful, indomitable Johnny gliding past on it...

Johnny in Sun Valley:
Rehearsal, Part 3.

That shirt though.

His head cold is making him miserable.

Blowing his nose for the zillionth time.

Readjusting his ever-present necklace of charms.

Love those red-soled skates.

Bonus vid!! Tweeted by Johnny this morning:
