So yesterday the first photo that I saw from the preview performance of The Snow King was actually NOT a Johnny pic, but this one:

To which the only possible reaction was:
WOW.
And clearly I wasn’t the only one, because if you search the Snow King hashtag on Instagram (#снежныйкороль), you’ll find photo after photo and video after video of Plushenko riding this magical horse-drawn carriage that seems to float high above the ice. And even though I think I’ve looked at every single post, I’m still all, “How did they DO that....?”

And that’s just the beginning of the amazingness of this show, which I would seriously consider selling a major organ to go see. The Snow King premieres tonight to the public, so please be prepared for an avalanche of coverage in both mainstream and social media for the next week beginning in 3...2...1....
Beyond the carriage, high points of the show, according to those lucky enough to attend the preview, included the surprise live performance of the closing song by Dima Bilan (video below), and Johnny’s strong skating and beautiful and touching performance in the pivotal role of Kai.
