Random Friday Faves

This is one of the most gorgeous photos
of Johnny I've ever seen.
Taken by the awesome Tatiana Edrenkina
last weekend in Moscow.
See more in her Facebook album.

Bonus video!! So Improv-Ice happened last night, but I think we mostly have to wait until the NBC broadcast of the show on Sunday, January 15, 4 pm EST, to really get a good look at anything. All I know is he skated to LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It" (warning: NSFW), and to Styx' live performance of "Grand Illusion." Fans Jana Colgin and Natalie Maxwell report that he wore the "Safety" pants--about which there is nothing safe at all, much to everyone's delight, and which he himself described as "obscene"--for the "Sexy" performance, and that he totally rocked it. And also that the second half featuring Styx was kind of more of a Styx concert than a skating show. OK then. Anyway, when the show airs in January, we get to vote on who gave the best performance! Hoping to add "Improv-Ice Champion" to our Winter Monarch's list of titles... :D

In the video, we see the skaters as they first learn yesterday to which songs each of them will be skating. I was struck by how much he stands out even when he's just, you know... standing there. He's with some big names in skating here, and yet--he's the rockstar. Love it.

Improv-Ice photo tweeted  last night
by @Disson Skating:
"Love and support between @JohnnyGWeir
and #NicoleBobek backstage!"

More video!! In case you missed this wonderful interview by Mara Davis conducted in the bathroom at the CNN Dialogues event. LOL. I love everything about this, including the amount of fangurling going on here.

OK, one more. I just found this on YouTube. I love how fascinated this little one is, and how she can't stop watching Johnny. Just like the rest of us. :)

HEY!!! IT'S THE LAST DAY
to vote for Johnny as
"Must-Follow Athlete on Social Media"
in the 5th Annual Mashable Awards!!

IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL. Mashable gets more than 50 million page views per month, and has been named by Time Magazine as one of the top 25 blogs on the Internet.

He's up against some stiff competition from Yuna Kim and John Cena, among others, but hey--we're really good at voting, and since he tweeted about it and is promo'ing it on his website,  let's make it happen!

He's also in some amazing company: As Megan Gusinski pointed out, finalists in other categories include The Trevor Project, NOH8, GLAAD, and Ellen Degeneres, so you might want to do some additional voting while you're on Mashable's site.

Voting ends on Friday, December 16, and the winners will be announced on Monday, December 19. Just click the graphic above or at the top righthand side of the blog to be taken directly to the voting page for Johnny.

You can vote once per day per Twitter and Facebook account. Please VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

Bonus video via The Advocate, from their post titled:
"Possibly the Most Beautiful Ad for Marriage Equality We've Seen."
The video was produced by an equality group in Australia,
where nearly two-thirds of voters favor legalizing
gay marriage, according to The Advocate
but prime minister Julia Gillard remains firmly opposed.
I agree with The Advocate
This is one of the most eloquent illustrations I've seen
of this simple concept: Love is love.

Those Disson music choices remind me of Johnny's book cover...a deliberate parody rather than a portrait. I had been hoping for another Lady Gaga song or maybe Christina Aguilera. Whatever...Johnny has the talent to rock it.

Love that photo. Johnny is actually very thoughtful and very very very filtered, just in different ways than normally expected. This photo captures that filteredness.

That is a seriously delightful baby who is being brought up by seriously delightful parents. Loved her other baby videos, too. Someday she will grow up to be insanely great.
