with this phrase: "Let us look forward with screaming!"
Yes, let's! And may the cavalcade of Weibo pics and vids
be everything it was last year and more...
Kayso we're still plowing through Japan stuff here on the blog even though that was over with like next month or yesterday or something, according to FB "Timeline," which, just to be clear, is neither timely nor linear, and yes, I still haaaaaate it, but I'm a little behind schedule because while I was sick last week I also took on some additional freelance work which apparently made sense at that moment to my fevered brain, and so I had to finish editing under a ferocious deadline this children's fantasy book that was kind of LOTR Meets Uncle Wiggily and Inadvertently Creates Some Unintended Sexual Innuendo Through a Series of Unfortunately Worded Sentences at Which Every Child Ages Six and Up Will Giggle Uncontrollably Including My Own Inner Child because they were paying me actualfax money to PLEASE FIX IT, and so now I'm trying to catch up on Weir World where at least the innuendo is generally on purpose and for mature audiences (or immature, take your pick), and in the meantime some lovely fans made some photos available for the blog plus we have more from dear Tara and so here's a bunch of... stuff. That has Johnny in it or is related to him in some way. And contains no disturbing anthropomorphic animal characters of any kind. Thank Weirsus.
As always, please click any photo twice for full-size view.
We begin with this brief series of pics from Johnny's practice last Saturday courtesy of Machiko Oka, who gave me permission to share these with everyone here. Machiko is the lovely fan who has created crowns of roses and other gorgeous bouquets for Johnny over the years. Here are her beautiful and somewhat haunting rehearsal photos. I love these.

Next we have the remaining photos that Tara was kind enough to send from Japan, which begin just before showtime on Sunday....
Tara with Mr. Makabe--"producer of Fantasy on Ice,
and our friend"--and Naoko.

Tara gets a brief moment to sit down.
"I am wearing Johnny's shoes.
We switched because I had to run an errand.
He looked great in my Loubs."

in the world, and cheerleaders too.
And Miki is an INCREDIBLE inspiration to them all."

Toward the end of the show.
"Miki's smile, and the way she is with the kids,
is absolutely amazing. And as everyone knows,
no one loves kids in a skating show more than I do!"

No photos or videos of the show were allowed,
as is typically the case with ice shows in Japan.
But we are fortunate to have these two drawings
posted by @ayukovon (Ayumi)
to help us get a glimpse of Johnny.
He performed his Chopin program in the costume
he wore for his Edith Piaf program last year.
Ayumi explains: "Every Skaters were wearing T-shirt
of the Phoenix at the end of the show,
I caught an amazing smile of J in my binoculars."

from the official Reborn Garden video.
After the show:

Tara posted this to Facebook and wrote:

The kids that skated in the show were absolutely breathtaking!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the future of skating
alongside the pros! Yay Miki-chan!"

Binks!
The crazy thing about that crowd photo, which I love, is that it looks like Johnny is sneaking in the back behind the crowd. Look kinda to the right, with his face partially obscured by the fringe. You'll see a person who looks like it could be Johnny in a black fur coat. He's EVERYWHERE!! Or, maybe I just see him everywhere. :)
So wonderful to see Japan bristling with smiling beautiful people.
Love you!
Neeks
Johnny's rehearsal video is mesmerizing. How is it possible to land and flow so smoothly? Does Johnny have his own personal anti-gravity field following him around? Does the gravity of the moon reach down and pull him up by his shoulders?
Thank you for weaving this coat of many colors together, Binky. And thank you to Machiko Oka, ayukovon/Ayumi, @noir_et_blanche, Junko Mi, and Tara for supplying the wonderful photo threads.
So happy for Miki Ando's success and Japan's recovery in progress. Last night I just heard about new earthquakes in NE Japan and hope for NO new tsunamis. Sigh. The timing seems like the Earth has its own coincidental geologic.
