HEY!!! We did it!!
Johnny is a finalist for
"Must-Follow Athlete on Social Media"
in the 5th Annual Mashable Awards!!

IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL. Mashable gets more than 50 million page views per month, and has been named by Time Magazine as one of the top 25 blogs on the Internet.

He's up against some stiff competition from Yuna Kim and John Cena, among others, but hey--we're really good at voting, and since he tweeted about it and is promo'ing it on his website,  let's make it happen!

He's also in some amazing company: As Megan Gusinski pointed out, finalists in other categories include The Trevor Project, NOH8, GLAAD, and Ellen Degeneres, so you might want to do some additional voting while you're on Mashable's site.

Voting ends on Friday, December 16, and the winners will be announced on Monday, December 19. Just click the graphic above or at the top righthand side of the blog to be taken directly to the voting page for Johnny.

You can vote once per day per Twitter and Facebook account. Please VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

Bonus video via The Advocate, from their post titled:
"Possibly the Most Beautiful Ad for Marriage Equality We've Seen."
The video was produced by an equality group in Australia,
where nearly two-thirds of voters favor legalizing
gay marriage, according to The Advocate
but prime minister Julia Gillard remains firmly opposed.
I agree with The Advocate
This is one of the most eloquent illustrations I've seen
of this simple concept: Love is love.

I think perhaps you know that I love the b/w photos too, and these are particularly intense and intimate. Thanks as always for sharing so generously.

love those photos. Form not only follows function but also distills the spirit in black and white photography.

Johnny looks really cool when intense, and especially very cool when running on vapors with a mind-over-matter attitude. His aura is captured by this photography.

Binks,

They're truly stunning. My mind just reels when I see Johnny in his all-black "this is serious" warm-up gear. The work is apparent and his "everything in my world has a personality" belief is readily apparent in his ongoing relationship and dialogue with his ice.

I have been thinking a ton about his press conference after the Olympics and about everything he's done and seen and been since that moment. For everything I knew of him before that, and everything that manifested in that conference to everything he is today...I am floored by his eloquence. In every single way that he speaks. And every single way that he speaks to me. (How does he seem to do that?! It's just incredible).

I can't help but think that we've all realized our potential more fully because of him. The best part: I think he's just getting started. And we've all got a breathtaking journey ahead.

Love to you,
Neeks

ps. One word: DAVEY. <3

Those black and white photos are awesome, MM! David has done a brilliant job of catching the emotion and the intensity not only on Johnny's face, but in his posture and his stance on the ice! Like I said before, I know he has a great subject, but I really think he could easily become a professional photographer.
