IMPORTANT UPDATE!! Via Johnny's Japanese Angels: "Johnny’s birthday scrapbook project. http://bit.ly/LNOrlx

"The entry deadline was extended to June 3rd, so please join us! Let's celebrate Johnny's birthday and show our support to him, together!
—JJA"

If you'd like to create a page for the scrapbook, the deadline to let the Japanese Angels know that you want to participate is June 3, and the pages are due June 20. Always such a lovely gift!

Some quick notes before we enjoy our Friday flashback picspam:

(1) ORLY...? This popped up at some point last night on the USFSA site:

Well then. No funding there, but fans in the know tell me that in order to perhaps move into one of the funding envelopes at some point, he first has to be placed in the Reserve Envelope. So.... yay? Yes. Yay!

(2) What. Because there appears to be a tiny bit of confusion, let me state this again just as clearly as I possibly can re: Show Johnny Weir the Love's birthday project: Johnny did NOT and has NOT asked fans for money. Some FANS came up with the idea of a simple PayPal fund as a gift because oh look some other skaters accept contributions via PayPal and that seems easy and then they asked his lovely mom Patti if it would be OK to do that and she said yes, thank you, that would be very nice and much appreciated. And she offered to help, which makes it all infinitely easier. And I'm really not sure how any of those words or concepts are super-baffling, but I'll be happy to just post that summation permanently on here for people to pore over and parse to their hearts' content, although the conclusion will always be the same: He did NOT ask anyone to do this. Fans have been discussing for some time if THEY could do it for him. And Patti is on board. Which, at least for me, is all I need to know.

(3) This. Fortunately the project has only seemed confusing to a few, because contributions are pouring in already, and among the many messages I get daily from fans all over the world came this one yesterday which captures the spirit of the project so well that I felt a little less like perhaps I had unintentionally written the initial post in Sanskrit:

Bless you, dear Binky!

You presented such a marvelous, forthright blog re: A Mighty Dream. It certainly spelled out exactly where Johnny stands in reference to his quest for the Olympics.

This is where I wish I knew some big money people - or had some big bucks myself! Lottery would help. I have a feeling bake sales and yard sales won't do it! But hey, every little bit will help him get there. And if we're real fans, that's the way we should all be thinking.

Bless you, dear beautiful fan on a fixed income but with limitless love in your heart, for understanding what "gift" means.

And now, here's a brief glimpse of Johnny working hard at his job (oh yes, he has a job! He skates. At shows. Like, in China and Japan and Russia and the Czech Republic and stuff. You may have seen a few of his performances on YouTube...) to give the gift of his unparalleled skating to his fans--when he's not passing out from dehydration and exhaustion--as captured in this picspam from Johnny's warmup before Holiday Dreams on Ice, December 2011.

As always, please click any photo twice for larger view. Full-size images are available for some photos.

but to turn it into glory.

As we saw previously, Johnny begins his warmup
wearing multiple layers to protect him
against the cold of the rink.

The demands of his sport quickly heat him up,
though, so he starts shedding layers.
The fur wrapped around his waist is the first to go.

He's already spent endless hours in rehearsal
for two days straight.
So he's looking a little fatigued here.

He drops the fur off by his skate guards,
and gulps down some bottled water.

Then he heads determinedly back out onto the ice
faster than Davey can refocus...

...for more of this 45-minute session.
When he's done, it's a mad dash to hair, makeup,
and costuming, and then back out onto the ice
for the two-hour show.

Wonderful picspam again, and nice send off into the weekend. Love it so, so much.

I hope Johnny spends his weekend relaxing and getting physically ready for China. I wished Victor could go with him.

Thanks for all the glorious pics in every state of undress. Is there a continuation of this particular spam. At least, it´s a spam I don´t mind at all.

Happy weekend!

Beautiful photos that capture Johnny's soul.

Am happy to help Johnny out because he puts so much heart, integrity, and creativity into everything he does.

Johnny will probably pull rabbits out of his hat to perform at Artistry. Airplane travel is very dehydrating. Hope the airline will put him in First Class because he needs the rest.

Ayukovon is to drawing what Binky is to blogging and Davey is to photography: perfection.

WRT certain "fans" getting their panties twisted so tight they are turning blue in the face about the Show Johnny Weir the Love birthday gift project:

They don't need your stinkin' facts. What are mere facts when they have *opinions"?
