"Footsteps That Chase Dreams and Never Stop"

Johnny during the opening number
of Artistry on Ice in Beijing.

He's headed home! After the final Artistry on Ice performance last night in Shanghai, Johnny's on his way back to the East Coast, scheduled to land this afternoon at oh just about 45 minutes or so before he took off from Narita today.

o.O

So as he's winging his way across continents and oceans to get home to Victor, we have oceans of picspam still to enjoy from the incredibly generous Chinese fans. Even though he's already concluded his AOI performances, we haven't even finished with the series of pics from Beijing--let alone Shenzhen and Shanghai. Oh, and we also have leftover picspam from Taipei....

But first, here's a look at his two most recent "Fighter" performances, from Shenzhen on Friday and Shanghai on Sunday. As he was prepping for the final show in Shanghai, he tweeted this photo:

"Held up by as much hairspray as @mrericalt
can make! It's 'Fighter' time!" he wrote.
Although I think it took everyone at least five minutes
to notice that he even has hair in this photo....

"Fighter" from the Shenzhen show
on Friday, 06-15-2012.

Same show, different angle.

And "Fighter" from Shanghai.

Brief picspam from Shanghai: Chopin...

...Fighter...

...and a zillion flowers.

And then it was all over except for the bittersweet goodbyes. Johnny, who finally got his Weibo account to work with his iPhone, thanked his Chinese fans for a wonderful show. Among the hundreds of responses was this one:

@JohnnyGWeir, See U next year. [呵呵] I'm using my last drop of strength to smile to U. Hope U will have a good rest after back to home. I'll miss U! Shanghai is crying for your leaving as well. The rain just won't stop :(

Back to Beijing

So whilst he's in the sky on the Endless Delta Flight From Forever Possibly Longer Beginning With A Two-Hour Delay, here are pics from the opening number in Beijing, courtesy of the lovely Chinese Angel Maria Ma. Some of these have already appeared on Weibo, some are premiering here. All of them are gorgeous.

As always, please click any photo twice for larger view.

Fighter

The night of the Shenzhen show, Johnny tweeted:

Which prompted an outpouring of support on Twitter, my favorite being this tweet:

Shenzhen reviews on Weibo were extremely positive. Among the usual amounts of squeeeeeeee punctuated by a truly astonishing variety of the spinning / chortling / eye-popping rotating pigs, squirming bunnies, and nodding panda emoticons available on Weibo were these thoughtful analyses (as cobbled together by that delightfully madcap couple, Google Translate and Bing Translator, who set aside the absinthe for just a moment in order to produce an actual coherent string of sentences for us):

His faith and perseverance come strong! Some people think he is only flashy appearance, vanity, monster beauty, but under this shell is the pure heart of an athlete who was not willing to be stopped by frustration, but wanted to continue to fight.

Genuine respect and admiration for Johnny, for his courage and faith, his footsteps that chase dreams and never stop. Nothing to win, nothing to lose; not every human heart is so broad and strong and pure.

Those shots of Johnny in tux and top hat kill me. All the overworked and drained adjectives to describe male beauty, from dashing to charming, seem to gain a new life just to describe him. Monster beauty indeed.

Thank you, Binky, for braving the nodding pandas, rolling pigs and whatnot of Weibo to collect all these gems. xoxo

Grueling travel pace, but such great photos and moving performances. Johnny brings out the fighter in all of us. Fight on, friends and loved ones! We won't stop until we all have the rights and respect we should be born with!
