Improv-Ice Voting Wrap-Up!

Well.

To recap: The poll was shut down early Sunday morning when Disson became aware of voting irregularities, thanks to many concerned voters. They reopened the poll for a few hours yesterday, only to see Michael Weiss' votes once again experience an artificially inflated rise to the tune of nearly 1,000 votes in those few hours. And again we observed a very steady, nonstop stream of votes for him--the same 1 to 5 votes every 30 seconds that we saw when the suspicious behavior was first spotted on the poll on Saturday.

And the whole thing is sad, really, because lovely Nicole Bobek, who did an amazing job in the show, had been running neck-and-neck with Michael for 2nd place--until the bot struck. This kind of thing cheats everyone out of a fair result, and that's unfortunate.

Soooooooo: Disson responded again (thank you!) to a wave of concerned emails by completely ending the voting. They posted this message on the poll:

Thank you, everyone, for your continued interest and support of the Improv-Ice voting. Unfortunately, due to computer bots working to vote for multiple skaters, we have decided to suspend voting a couple hours early.

The official announcement of the "Best Improv-Ice Skater" winner will be made this Saturday, February 4, during Pandora Unforgettable Moments of Love on Ice at 4:00 p.m. ET on NBC as part of the Pandora NBC Skating Series. Be sure to tune in!

(EXCUSE ME? "Multiple skaters"? Um, no. We are not bots. We are Johnny's terrifying and legendary fanbase. The Honey BadgeWeirs of The Cabal. You might recognize us by our number on Facebook.)

Special thanks to Tatiana Edrenkina
for this screencap from last night!
Love that it's in Russian.
Of course, the number has gone up since then...

Anyway: The poll is now frozen at this tally:

Fortunately, even though the totals currently showing still include all the bot votes....

Johnny won*!!
World peace, here we come!!

(*Unofficial result. Disson will announce the official winner this Saturday, February 4, during the NBC broadcast of "Pandora Unforgettable Moments of Love on Ice" at 4 pm EST [check local listings.])

And I had to LOL at this comment posted after the voting was brought to its hasty conclusion:

I find it hilariously amusing that even Michael Weiss' computer bot couldn't beat Johnny Weir. :D

Me too. Which of course leads us to:

Of course he doesn't. He's too busy doing his Random World Peace Victory Dance...

Nominate Johnny Weir for a social media award in the Shorty Awards!

Hey, Johnny's been nominated for a Shorty Award!! You can join in on the nominating process by clicking here and tweeting your vote for Johnny. Most fans are voting for him in the "Athlete" category.

Note: The Shorty Awards have very specific rules, which essentially boil down to this:

(1) You can only nominate him ONCE from each Twitter account that you have. Additional votes from the same account will NOT be counted. So it's one of those deals where we need a LOT of different people to vote, rather than a few people voting a lot.

(2) Your nominating tweet MUST include a reason (for example: "I nominate @JohnnyGWeir for a Shorty Award in #athlete because he inspires his fans to believe in themselves"--thanks @PatinaGlace!).

(3) You must NOT copy someone else's reason in your vote.

All righty then.

The nominating period ends February 17--please vote vote vote!! For more info, click here.

Thank you for pulling all this together. Some day, well after six decades have passed, you will deserve a special spot in the afterlife surrounded by Johnny photos and videos.

In the first of the videos, be sure to watch starting at 09:00 where Sarah Hughes mentions Johnny's skating and Peter asks the crowd what do they think about Johnny? Wild cheers...and this is for a general skating crowd who had not come to watch Johnny compete.

Love the massive support Johnny is getting from the entire skating world.

By the way, another really truly nasty mammal is the African crested rat, also called the maned rat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maned_rat and www.nytimes.com/2012/01/31/science/these-mammals-pack-a-toxic-punch.html?_r=1 It has toxic fur.

In the third video, starting about 3:45, Ashley talks about her costume and how Johnny's Swan program was an inspiration. So happy for Ashley all around. She was skating in the wilderness for so long. Hope her swan commands worlds.

Sarah Hughes comes across now as a sophisticated and bright woman of the world. Last I remember, she was a high school student winning the Gold in the Olympics.
