A Special Message from Johnny...

Johnny Weir @ Official Johnny Weir Blog.
Johnny in Punta Cana,
January 2012.

I wasn't actually going to blog today because I'm merrily working on picspam for tomorrow, but then late last night Johnny posted the above photo to his Facebook fan page along with this beautiful message for his fans:

I love you guys. Thank you for making so many of my dreams come true and supporting the people I surround myself with. I can't tell you what it means to me. I go to bed happy every night for many reasons, and you all are a part of it. Here's a special private photo for you from our trip to Punta Cana. Love, Love, Love you!

And because a lot of people who read the blog aren't on Facebook or Twitter, I didn't want anybody to miss out on his post, so here it is. :)

(If you are on Facebook but haven't had a chance to do so yet, please run right over and "like" his post so he knows how very much we appreciate him taking the time to write to us!)

Dearest Johnny, we love, love, love you too!

And one way we can make sure he knows how much we love him is to PLEASE KEEP VOTING in Improv-Ice to get him to that 50% he wants by the deadline on January 31!! He's been holding steady at 42% for days, but there are some determined Michael Weiss voters who have inched Michael up to 18%...

(Votes as of 4:30 a.m. EST today.
Please click the graphic to see
Cuz these numbers are obvs already outdated.
Since of course you just voted!)

We can do this!! Please vote once a day from every available computer and phone for #Weir2012WorldPeace!

(Helpful hint: Please make sure absolutely everyone you've ever met sees his "Sexy and I Know It" performance so they know to vote for him, too. Gifs here and here also may be useful. )

Just think of how pleased he'll be with our votes:

Don't forget: Johnny's headed to San Jose to commentate on Nationals this weekend from Ice Network's "ICE Desk." And we can watch him! Per their article:

ICE Desk Live is free to all icenetwork.com registered users [editorial note: Yay!!].

Viewing times as follows (all times Eastern):

Friday, Jan. 27: 10:15 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. prior to men's short program
(Note: I THINK this time may have been moved up to 30 minutes earlier--awaiting confirmation from Ice Network.)

Friday, Jan. 27: 12:40 a.m. - 12:50 a.m. post men's short program

Saturday, Jan. 28: 11:30 p.m. - 11:45 p.m. post ladies free skate

Sunday, Jan. 29: 6:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. post men's free skate

Johnny also "will offer color commentary during the men's event at 2012 U.S. Championships." (But I THINK to watch this, you have to subscribe to Ice Network's $39.95 video package.)

Bonus video!! Last year Johnny also attended Nationals
to receive his second Readers' Choice Award /
Michelle Kwan Trophy
He is the only skater other than Michelle
ever to win the award more than once.
Here, thanks to Jenn Kittler, is his
wonderful acceptance speech
that was livestreamed by the fab people
at Ice Network.

Always believe in yourself, and never be afraid to fall down. I know there are lots of skaters in the building watching this event right now, and many more at home. And I'm so proud of everything that I've accomplished, I'm so proud of everything that I've won, and that I've lost. And I can stand here and be happy and be excited about it, because I did everything on my own terms. I want the skaters of the future never to feel pressured or marginalized, or told what to do, or who to be, or what to skate to, or what NOT to wear. I want everyone to believe in themselves, love themselves, and stand here in ten years and be proud of where they've gotten.

Readers' Choice Award recipient,

Nominate Johnny Weir for a social media award in the Shorty Awards!

Hey, Johnny's been nominated for a Shorty Award!! You can join in on the nominating process by clicking here and tweeting your vote for Johnny. Most fans are voting for him in the "Athlete" category.

Note: The Shorty Awards have very specific rules, which essentially boil down to this:

(1) You can only nominate him ONCE from each Twitter account that you have. Additional votes from the same account will NOT be counted. So it's one of those deals where we need a LOT of different people to vote, rather than a few people voting a lot.

(2) Your nominating tweet MUST include a reason (for example: "I nominate @JohnnyGWeir for a Shorty Award in #athlete because he inspires his fans to believe in themselves"--thanks @PatinaGlace!).

(3) You must NOT copy someone else's reason in your vote.

All righty then.

The nominating period ends February 17--please vote vote vote!! For more info, click here.

Thanks, Binky, for the lovely Photoshop work. You may have just inspired me to drive down to the local public library to find a book about mangrove trees, etc.
