Speaking of voting: So I came across these tweets on Sunday while watching Improv-Ice:

Which, you know, were similar to hundreds of other tweets that happened during and after the show, all of which made me smile like crazy in between giffing everything in sight.

Then yesterday this same Twitter user tweeted to me:

So of course I had to click the link, and here was this absolutely adorable video:

(Transcript of the video is
at the end of this entry.)

Meet four-year-old Nehemias Jr. (he mostly goes by "Junior").

After I totally died from the precious, I had an engaging Twitter convo with this sweet boy's lovely mama, the aforementioned @ndnspeechmom ("Skye Blue"), who gave me permission to share here.

She is a Native American of the Plains Cree nation, a speech therapist and blogger, addicted to MAC makeup (love her already!), and married to a man from Acupulco, Mexico. They currently live in Saskatchewan, Canada, with their three children, who are half Cree and half Mexican.

We agreed that we love how Johnny's appeal is cross-cultural and basically knows no boundaries.

She noted that Junior's hair is usually braided, but yesterday he was wearing it loose and curly "like Johnny Weir." Also he had been "keeping himself busy trying to spin around holding one leg up. Luckily winter is long here in Canada lol." (LOL.)

I asked Skye if Improv-Ice was the first time Junior had ever seen Johnny, and she said, "Yes, and he's been watching him on YouTube ever since. I let him watch old Kurt Browning vids and he was all, 'That's not Johnny Weir.'" (So he's not only adorable, he's smart!).

Then I asked if he had seen Johnny's Poker Face and Just Dance, and she said, "Yes, but 'Sexy and I Know It' is his fav cuz he saw it on 'the big TV.' It is a nice change from UFC [Ultimate Fighting Championship] and monster trucks. I'm so glad he is watching something on YouTube besides Lightning McQueen."

She added, "Oh yeah, and he is trying to get his 17-month-old brother to watch 'Johnny Weir' with him. (He always says Johnny's full name, so cute.)" #dying

Because Junior's a little soft-spoken, here's what he says on the video:

Mama: Who's Johnny Weir?

Junior: The guy--he dance. We watch him on TV but Johnny Weir, he skating.

Mama: OK, and what do you want to do?

Junior: Skate and then do Johnny Weir dance and then he also jump and do that somersault dance.

Mama: You like it?

Junior: Yeah. Mom, maybe I'll do that like he. Like Johnny Weir.

"A mom can dream, right?" Skye tweeted to me after sharing his closing sentence.

Absolutely. And so can kids. Especially when they have someone amazing to inspire them.

Thank you, Skye, for sharing your dear little boy with us. May all your children follow their dreams and achieve whatever their hearts desire, with the love and support of their family.

And Junior, here's a wave and a kiss from Johnny for you.

Nominate Johnny Weir for a social media award in the Shorty Awards!

Hey, Johnny's been nominated for a Shorty Award!! You can join in on the nominating process by clicking here and tweeting your vote for Johnny. Most fans are voting for him in the "Athlete" category.

Note: The Shorty Awards have very specific rules, which essentially boil down to this:

(1) You can only nominate him ONCE from each Twitter account that you have. Additional votes from the same account will NOT be counted. So it's one of those deals where we need a LOT of different people to vote, rather than a few people voting a lot.

(2) Your nominating tweet MUST include a reason (for example: "I nominate @JohnnyGWeir for a Shorty Award in #athlete because he inspires his fans to believe in themselves"--thanks @PatinaGlace!).

(3) You must NOT copy someone else's reason in your vote.

All righty then.

The nominating period ends February 17--please vote vote vote!! For more info, click here.

Nehemias is a perceptive child who knows talent when he sees it. Hope these smart parents can find him some ice skating lessons.

By the way, certain native Americans have an exceptional talent for balance, and this skill might manifest in this child.

And with the power invested in me by, um, just me but I'm sure EVERYONE agrees, I dub thee and thy blog the Official Johnny Weir Clearinghouse / Treasure Trove. I'm bouncing around asking, "Did the guy from Styx really say 'OMG?'" I'm Googling how to make an animated .gif out of the last few moments of the "Grand Illusion." I'm rifling through my pockets trying to find the correct URL for ImprovIce voting." Lo and behold, you've covered it ALL ALREADY with so, so, so much more! I need to pencil in regular blog reading - write it on my hand or perhaps a PostIt on my toothbrush. You're great and really do Johnny justice.
