Sexy and He Knows It.

And We Know It.
People in Indonesia and Outer Mongolia Know It.
Does Anyone Not Know It?
Here, Have Some Gifs.
These'll Clear That Right Up for You.

Johnny skates to LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It"
during the first half of Improv-Ice.
To which we could merely whisper
a collective, "asdgfhhlkjhafas,"
and then make a sound heard only by dogs....

O.O

So. That was.... erm...

....eye-poppingly, jaw-droppingly...

WOW.

Sweet Weirsus.

Holy Pants.

If anyone could possibly completely embody a song called "Sexy and I Know It"--emphasis on "body"--and make it come to life on ice via on-the-spot improvisation, it would only be Johnny.

He was absolutely beyond amazing. If the explosion of "OMG!!!!" tweets immediately afterward was any indication. (Seriously, click the link and scroll through the pages and pages of them. It's an awesome experience. :D)

Oh, and then he did a little Styx number later in the show, after this big buildup in the behind-the-scenes interview about how he really had never heard Styx' music and didn't know how this would go yada yada yada....

And of course he killed it. His spins alone were incredible. But he also made "Grand Illusion" even better as a song by once again moving with and expressing the music in that way he has that no other skater can match.

But my favorite part of his Grand Illusion performance actually came after he was finished and was taking his bows:

Yeah. OMG. OMFG. I'm guessing the Styx guy had never seen anything like that on ice--or anywhere else...

So anyway, Johnny tweeted a couple of times during the show:

4:20 p.m.
Yes, of course it is.

5:05 p.m.
LOL. I think someone was in a very good mood
now that his husband was home.

So as soon as the voting page was opened and also stopped crashing, we did go vote for him. In droves.

Just 30 minutes into the voting, his friend Misha observed:

6:34 p.m.

As of this writing, he's still holding on to a healthy lead, remaining consistently at nearly 40% of the vote for hours (BTW these numbers will be ridiculously outdated by the time you get to the end of this sentence):

(Please click the graphic to be taken to
updated real-time poll results.)

However, voting continues until January 31, so please KEEP VOTING DAILY for him!! You can vote once per day per IP address. (Which means families with multiple computers on one router are limited to one household vote unless you feel like resetting your router four or five times a day. However, we quickly figured out that we could all vote from our phones... and from Starbucks... and from McDonalds... and the Tollway Oasis.... )

So, in hopes that that world-peace thing could, you know, be a thing, my sweet friend Priscilla Robinson noted:

And she's right. So here you go, Priscilla:

Yes, Of Course We Have Video!!

The fabulous Wendy Stevenz got both his programs uploaded to YouTube practically before we were finished actually watching them (thank you, Wendy!!). And then overnight we got a second set of videos from the equally fabulous Jenn Kittler, premiering exclusively here in case you need another look:

Sexy and I know It.

Grand Illusion.

Wendy also uploaded this montage
of the behind-the-scenes interview stuff, which includes lots
of a very fresh-scrubbed Johnny being adorable,
as well as interesting stuff from the other skaters.
I especially loved seeing Nicole Bobek back on the ice.
She was wonderful.

Nominate Johnny Weir for a social media award in the Shorty Awards!

Hey, Johnny's been nominated for a Shorty Award!! You can join in on the nominating process by clicking here and tweeting your vote for Johnny. Most fans are voting for him in the "Athlete" category.

Note: The Shorty Awards have very specific rules, which essentially boil down to this:

(1) You can only nominate him ONCE from each Twitter account that you have. Additional votes from the same account will NOT be counted. So it's one of those deals where we need a LOT of different people to vote, rather than a few people voting a lot.

(2) Your nominating tweet MUST include a reason (for example: "I nominate @JohnnyGWeir for a Shorty Award in #athlete because he inspires his fans to believe in themselves"--thanks @PatinaGlace!).

(3) You must NOT copy someone else's reason in your vote.

All righty then.

The nominating period ends February 17--please vote vote vote!! For more info, click here.

I had so much fun at our twitter party last night watching ImprovIce (in my case I could not but Johnny fans are known for helping out other fans which Wendy of course did, so I actually was able to watch it in due time to start voting, at 12pm my time. I´m still somewhere on cloud nine.)and "askdljhkdl"´ing and "OMG"`ing and sighing and laughing. It was incredible and all courtesy of our guy,his infamous safety pants which weren´t safe at all as most fans pointed out correctly and, of course, his skating skills.

So,thank you to Johnny and all of you for making my night.

I definitely will vote on every chance I get through January, 31th. I want him to win that thing.

Clearly I've died and gone to heaven, because how else d'you explain all this awesomeness? OMG those gifs!

It occurred to me that SAIKI might have been the first time that his in-laws ever saw Johnny skate, and presumbeably it answered any questions they might have had about why their son wanted to get married, lol!

Thanks as always for a fab blog.

In the last few weeks, the google alerts for "Johnny Weir" were popping up wedding announcement articles in a variety of languages I could not begin to guess (Dutch? Frisian? Baltic states? Eastern European?). Too many mysterious Internet country codes, too.

PR Santatress Tara and her Fireworks Sports Marketing's news release elves may have been cranking overtime. With eager receipt around the globe.

Johnny's choreography prowess and spontaneity were stunning. Mesmerizing. Next year Disson should just ask Johnny be one of the narrators and pay for his original choreography, else the other skaters would be too discouraged to participate.

Thanks for these gifs. By the way, what software do you use to make the gifs with?

Hard to know whether to keep looking at the gifs or the videos, or the gifs, or the videos...

LOL!

We can always count on MM for her wonderful Blogs and Wendy and Jen for their videos. Johnny has so many wonderful fans, but then, look who our inspiration is?!
