Kayso we've been digging out from under an avalanche of photos from ITNY, and in the meantime Halloween came and went without any Porno Robot sightings this year (which is a shame, really, because now it's hardly Halloween without that, is it?), but as Johnny mentioned on Twitter, he'd be "nailing the make-up and costumes with you, BUT I am lucky enough to do that weekly!" Which brings us to the utter sparkly fabulousness that is the costume and makeup he wore for Bad Romance at Ice Theatre last week (really? It's already been more than a week since I was in NYC? Gawking endlessly while happily absorbing the fact that you can go to Times Square at 11:30 p.m. and have coffee with like three thousand of your closest strangers AND see some guy filming some other guy who is in the middle of the street dancing up a storm fully decked out in a Batman costume although I'm not convinced they even knew each other but in any case absolutely nobody else is even paying the slightest bit of attention to them because this is NYC, baby, and he'd have to be grapple-hooking his way up the Empire State Building in that costume with an unconscious Mayor Bloomberg slung over his shoulder and Mariska Hargitay bellowing at him through a police bullhorn before anybody would even glance up from their iPhones to shrug at this latest Law and Order: SVU escapade and even then only if the whole scenario were seriously blocking traffic more than usual... I miss that so much BTW.)
But before we are overcome at the thought of possibly living in a world in which Johnny is never again dressed as Porno Robot, let us distract ourselves with super-mega-picspam from his ITNY Bad Romance performance. And then let's ponder what name to give this costume, which has generated much discussion in fandom ever since we first glimpsed it in July and which he has described as "prostitute wear with lots of sparkles." Personally, I love it. When he spins in it, he's like his own dazzling galaxy. So for today, Imma call it: Porno Supernova.

Being a fan of Johnny's is love requited. Indeed, us fans have had such a good romance with Johnny's Bad Romance performances and costumes. It is perfect pitch for the sport of figure skating and our times.
Speaking of Bad Romances, we've all had such a Bad Romance with Wall Street (who instead of making us rich, makes us all poorer), then Congress who instead of fixing the problem becomes part of the problem and makes us poorer yet. Then the newest batch of Congressmen, instead of fixing Congress, bring the nation to the edge of default. Plus certain governors and state legislatures who bring the national disaster home to the state level. In the meantime, certain firms continue to offshore jobs and taxes...they profit by offshoring the American Dream.
All in all a Bad Romance that's increased American antidepressant prescriptions 400% in the past two decades, further funding the pharmaceutical lobby in an endless "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad" loop.

Most photos of Johnny wearing this costume, as wonderful as they are, simply don't have the same visual impact as when you see that costume in person. When you do, it's like "WOW!"
When Johnny enters the ice wearing it, he's twinkling bits of light floating over the ice. And when he spins, he's surrounded by tiny sparkling stars in orbit.
Of all the photos of Johnny in the costume I've seen, this one comes closest to capturing the magic of Johnny skating in that costume.
Also, gotta say that when he's still and you can see the details of the costume, I find the rhinestone hand-print on his butt, as well as the rhinestone lips at the top of his inner left thigh, to be enormously amusing. Those reflect the naughty twinkle in Johnny's eye.
